Mike Ottinger
Will be entering his 1st season as head wrestling coach. Mike was a PIAA 160-pound state champion for Parkland in 2011. Posted a 32-3 overall record during state championship season. Two-time District 11 Champion and capped high school career at the Dapper Dan Classic with win over five-time Minnesota state champion Destin McCauley. High school career record of 130-35. Graduated with 3.37 GPA and was named the District 11 Class AAA Wrestling Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Wrestled for Central Michigan University where he graduated with a Bachelor degree in mathematics. Posted a career record of 104-40. 4x NCAA Division 1 National qualifier and 2x MAC Champion. Employed as a Paraprofessional for Parkland School District. First year as Parkland Head Coach in the 2017-18 season.

Carlos Montes will be entering his 23rd season as a Wrestling Coach. He is going into his 8th year as Assistant Coach @ Parkland MS (2000-2007, 2017-2018). He was an Assistant Coach at Easton Area High School for 9 years (1993-98) (2013-2017), 4 years as a Head Coach and Assistant Coach at the Elementary level in Palmer, and he has been an Assistant Coach for the Gold Medal Club at EAHS for many years. He also has had many years of experience in Judo, Grappling, Kickboxing and Karate, along with 10 years of Military Leadership experience as an Infantry Officer in the US Army, as well as being a member of the PSAC Keystone Ranger Team Champions and All-American Ranger Team in Lehigh University. He has 12 years of teaching experience in a Sunday school environment and was a Youth Group Leader as well. Carlos brings with him much experience, passion and enthusiasm into the program. He is a graduate of Kutztown and Lehigh Universities with a Master’s in education from East Stroudsburg University. Carlos is also currently entering his 25th year of teaching and teaches Spanish at Orefield Middle School.


Brad Kleckner
He will be entering his 2nd season on the Parkland Wrestling Staff. He is a graduate of Pottsville High School. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education from East Stroudsburg University. Brad currently teaches Health and Physical Education at Springhouse Middle School.

Jim Best
He will be returning on a volunteer basis to the Parkland Wrestling Staff. He was the Parkland Trojans head wrestling coach from 2000 – 2003 after spending many years as an assistant coach under the late John Toggas. Jim is a graduate of Parkland High School. He was a 2x PIAA State Place finisher, a 2x Northeast Regional Finalist, and a 2x District XI Champion. Jim went on to have an outstanding collegiate career at North Carolina State University where he earned his degree in Education. He is currently the Principal at Macungie Elementary School.
